1. It’s best to shave in the morning. Your skin has been resting for the night.
2. Wash your face. Try not to shave without having your skin perfectly clean. This will help prevent infection or bumps.
3. Apply hot water or shave after the shower. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your beard. Hot water actually diminishes hair toughness, which can increase blade longevity. Wet hair is easier to shave.
4. Apply shaving cream or gel. Apply a uniform layer of shaving cream or gel on your face in a circular motion, going back and forth over the skin and against the grain. This softens your hair, smooths the skin and lifts your hair, allowing a closer, less irritating shave.
