Easy Hair Removal

Tired of unwanted hairs?

Body hair is an issue that causes lot of trouble for millions of people around the world. Many men prefer to remain clean shaven and carry extremely low amount of body hair or none at all. However if your hair growth is strong, this can turn out to be an issue.

Unwanted hair can appear almost anywhere on the body – it can grow out of your ears, or on the back of your palms, your chest or even your belly. Many people have extremely hairy arms and legs and there is no discrimination in this where men and women are concerned.

There are numerous methods available to do away with this ingrown hair and you can chose from any of the hair removal cream that suit your skin. However before selecting a hair removal cream it is necessary to understand the reason behind your hair growth because the hair removal cream you select should be suited to your hair growth reason.

Let us take a look at the merits of each method of hair removal to help you decide which method you should select:

(a) Shaving: The simplest and perhaps the best method for removal of facial hair. However this method is suitable only for

male hair removal

and is not recommended for women; the sole reason being it actually increases the rate of re-growth.

(b) Tweezing: Another easy method for hair removal, but one that can be quite painful. Tweezing is more suited for removal of small areas of hair, especially from the face. However tweezing is preferred only for removal of eye-brow hair.

(c)
Hair Removal Cream
/ Depilatory Creams: Hair removal creams, gels and lotions are currently the most popular method of hair removal. Most of these concoctions contain a chemical that changes the structure of the hair for easy removal. Hair removal creams make live very easy for removal of unwanted hair.

The only down side is that the chemical used can be a skin irritant. So it is advisable to do a skin test in a small area of the skin (preferably the underarms) before using the product on large areas of skin.

(d) Waxing: You can use either hot or cold wax to remove unwanted hair. Waxing is one of the best methods of hair removal from the arms and legs as well as the body. Once applied, the hairs stick to the wax and are pulled off when the patch containing the wax is removed from the skin. Waxing normally needs to be done every 4-6 weeks. Take care not to wax sunburned or irritated skin.

(e) Electrolysis: A more or less permanent method of hair removal wherein the hair roots are destroyed using an electrical current. The only drawback of this method is that it requires multiple sittings over a period of time as each hair follicle has to be destroyed individually. Moreover it is a non reversible method and hair once removed will never re-grow. Cost is also a big consideration.

(f) Laser: The latest method of hair removal, laser requires the services of a trained and licensed professional. Laser hair removal can be very costly and time consuming compare to hair removal cream and may or may not be permanent.
Each of the above hair removal methods has its own pros and cons. While repeated shaving can cause hair to grow hard, plucking can cause irritation and scarring. Hair removal creams on the other hand are very effective methods that can be used on large areas of the body; their only draw back is some people can be sensitive to the chemicals used.

Electrolysis and laser on the other hand will provide permanent hair removal. Avoid using hair removal creams for removal of facial hair as not all hair removal creams are designed or formulated to remove such hair.

A few tips and warnings may help you make a better decision:

(a) Discuss hair removal options with your physician before proceeding.

(b) Use a lotion with alpha-hydroxy acid after any of the above hair removal methods. Alpha-hydroxy acid exfoliates the skin and helps prevent ingrown hairs.

(c) Bleaching hair is a safe and easy option if all of the above fail.

(d) You will never be able to find a hair removal cream that is without any discomfort or skin irritation. So make sure you understand and consider each method before taking a decision.
