Shaving Tech and Tips

Shaving is one of the easiest methods of hair removal. The razor blade works to remove the hair but cutting the hair off that is above the skin. By only removing the visible hair, it leaves the root, which makes re-growth rapids. This method is great for removing hair on the legs and underarms, but not for facial hair of the dreaded "trail" that leads down from your belly button to your lower stomach.

Generally hair will grow back within three days of shaving. Shaving leaves a blunt end on the hair that doesn't match the way the hair naturally grows. This is what causes the stubbly feel. Shaving is the cheapest method of hair removal. Prices vary depending on the type of razor bought. One of the most popular brands is the Venus by Gillette, which is sold around $7.99.

Tips

* Before shaving make sure the area where the hair will be removed has soaked up water. It's generally best to shave in the bath or shower after the skin has been exposed to water for at least three minutes. This helps make the hair softer and easier to remove.
* Change the blade of the razor at least once a week.
* Don't leave a razor in a puddle of water. This will only encourage bacteria growth that can cause razor burn.
* Use plenty of shaving foam/gel to prevent nicks and cuts.
* After shaving your legs, apply plenty of moisturizing lotion to keep your legs soft and smooth.
